The Jewish Motorcycle Alliance has announced that its 2008 “Ride to Remember”
will benefit the National Holocaust Endowment Fund.

The National Holocaust Endowment Fund, established in 2002, sponsors college level courses on the Holocaust and other genocide so that understanding, compassion and mutual respect will enable future generations to ensure that such atrocities can be averted.

The Jewish Motorcycle Alliance (JMA) will bring 300 members from across the nation to their fourth annual charity “Ride to Remember.”  “Each year we choose a not-for-profit organization to support Holocaust and Genocide education,” said Dr. Neil Cooper, an Atlanta member of the JMA and coordinator of the ride.  “All of our riders are looking forward to this event because it is more than just a ride.  We will be an active part of outreach to local colleges as part of a weekend awareness program.”

Planned and coordinated by the National Holocaust Endowment Fund (NHEF), the visiting bikers will visit the University of Nebraska in Omaha and Lincoln to meet with educators and students studying the Holocaust and other genocide through grants from the NHEF.

As part of the Memorial Day Weekend Event, a memorial ceremony is scheduled for the Nebraska Holocaust Memorial at the Nebraska State Cemetery in Lincoln.  Funding for the memorial was provided by the citizens of the State of Nebraska and the National Holocaust Endowment Fund.  Integral to this Memorial is an on-going educational component for Middle Schools and High Schools which will be closely coordinated with the Institute for Holocaust Education.

The Jewish Motorcycle Alliance plans to sponsor similar events annually in order to educate the future leaders of this country about the lingering and serious impact of the Holocaust and genocide in our would today.
“The NHEF is honored to be the JMA’s charity of choice in 2008,”  said Sam Fried, co-founder of the Nebraska Holocaust Endowment Fund and the Heartland Holocaust Education Fund with his wife Frances.  “We believe the JMA’s visit and outreach to members of the higher Educational Institutions will add a deeper connection with the community in Nebraska in a fun, yet thoughtful way.”

Together, the JMA and the National Holocaust Endowment Fund  will work to ensure a future filled with the promise of equality for people of all backgrounds.  This is an opportunity of a lifetime and we hope you join us in remembering our past and celebrating our future.

The NHEF and the HHEF provide educational programs for our youth to protect the defining doctrine of not only America, but of free men and women around the world, that people of all races and religions must be treated equally and without prejudice.
